Join a DAT Team
Disaster Action Teams (DAT) are groups of trained volunteers who
respond in the event of a local disaster and help meet the immediate
disaster-related needs of victims and responders. Red Cross Disaster
Volunteers come from all walks of life and all segments of the
community. The only thing they have in common is the willingness to
serve and the desire to help those in need.
During a disaster, DAT members provide immediate assistance, such as
food, clothing, emergency housing, medical aid and emotional support to
the victims and help them start the recovery process.
In order to become a DAT member, you must take a series of classes
that are offered free of charge by the American Red Cross, Santa Barbara
County Chapter. Required classes include:
Please contact Ally LeClair or Katherine Ellis in Santa Barbara if you are
interested in specific classes.
